Ice at Gaylord Palms in Orlando

Ice at Gaylord Palms in Orlando

Orlando at Christmas may seem complicated to those who don’t know; how can you feel “Christmas-y” when the sun is shining, the average daily temperature runs about 73 degrees, and the palm trees are swaying in a breeze that feels more like a spring fling than a winter wonderland? Christmas is about cold winter nights, blankets of snow covering the ground, and icy displays of Christmas lights and characters, and while our winter nights do drop to a chilly 53 degrees, we admit our winter is nothing like you would expect a Christmas winter to be—except for the icy display. This Christmas, a trip to Orlando should also involve a visit to ICE! Featuring Christmas themed ice sculptures from all over the world, ICE! brings the merry back to Christmas!

Located at Gaylord Palms Resort & Convention Center

This extravaganza of the really cold stuff is all about the season we love so much; over two million pounds of colorful ice sculptures depict intricately carved displays of Christmas cultural icons from all over the world, including the ultimate reason for the season. A quietly gleaming nativity scene, created from the clearest of frozen waters, will make you pause in wonder. It’s the clean simplicity that makes this scene stand out in a world of colors.

Interactive areas for the children to play include ice slides (yes, you may have a use for those ski pants you bought your kids earlier this year!) and an opportunity for a meet and greet with the jolly old elf himself, Santa Claus. Don’t forget your camera, as this magical and icy world of winter offers the perfect photo opportunity for your annual Christmas card!

And finally, the Frost Factory will show you how the magic is made. This display features the artisans who have created the show, working on their craft, oblivious to the oohs and ahs of the people surrounding them. Ice is a serious business to these talented artists, and it shows in the intricacy of their work!
