Not only is Orlando famous for manmade attractions like monumental theme parks, but the city also has a ton of gorgeous natural locales that are just as awe-inspiring! Check out our list of Orlando’s best natural attractions down below!
Harry P. Leu Gardens
A tropical paradise with rare flora, manicured grounds, placid lakes, and idyllic tree-lined trails, the Harry P. Leu Gardens allows visitors to immerse themselves in a lush natural wonderland. Spanning over the course of fifty acres along Lake Rowena, this botanical garden also has a butterfly garden, swathes of camellias, and a fifteen-acre section of the park that contains the Mizell-Leu House Historic District.
Lake Eola Park
Lake Eola Park offers visitors a respite from the bustling city atmosphere of downtown Orlando with a peaceful section of greenery by the lake. Take a stroll through the park, host a special event, feed the swans, or rent a swan-shaped paddleboat and go out on Lake Eola itself. It’s also home to the Walt Disney Amphitheater, where many live performances are hosted throughout the year.
Mead Botanical Garden
Housed in Winter Park, the Mead Botanical Garden is home not only to exotic foliage and grounds blanketed by beautiful flowering blooms but also to a number of picturesque pavilions and intriguing wildlife habitats where you may even be able to spot one of the many species of local animals that call Orlando home.
Tosohatchee Wildlife Management Area
Once the site where Native Americans from the Seminole tribe were famously removed from their land, today the Tosohatchee Wildlife Management Area is used as a wildlife preserve where visitors can explore over sixty miles of trails, go fishing, horseback riding, hunting, and wildlife watching. The park allows leashed dogs at all times, and also holds the Florida National Scenic Trail.
Wekiwa Springs State Park
Located just a short drive from downtown Orlando, Wekiwa Springs State Park is a place where visitors can swim in springs, go picnicking, kayak on the Wekiva River, and go hiking, biking, and horseback riding along the park’s many trails. A word of caution: if you visit during the summer, get to the park early as parking spaces tend to fill up quickly.
