Let’s face it, most of your time in Orlando is sure to be spent at Disney World, riding many inventive rides and indulging in delicious confections. Admission is only $7.00 for adults, $6.00 for seniors and $5.00 for students. It is open from 10:00 am to 6:00 pm Tuesday through Sunday.
History of the Museum
The Museum of Military History has come a long way since it got started in a tent near The Vietnam Memorial Wall in Saint Cloud in 2003. Some of the Vietnam memorabilia from the tent was then displayed in a storefront of Osceola Square Mall. It then moved to a unit near the entrance to the mall. In 2004, the Vietnam veterans who founded the museum started measures to incorporate the place. After much planning and fundraising, the museum opened its doors in 2012.
The Museum Today
Today you can learn all about the military through a variety of interactive displays. You can learn about the generals and politicians who planned strategies, the men who went to battle and the weapons that they used. They have displays of uniforms worn by American soldiers over the years as well as the medals they were awarded. They also have examples of all the various equipment soldiers used to protect themselves from chemical attack.
There are separate exhibits for World War II, The Korean Conflict and the Vietnam War. There are plenty of military vehicles here, including jeeps and tanks. They also have scale models of military planes, boats, and submarines.
